Production notes

Louis has to make a presentation and this subject allows Violaine Pasquet to approach, with a poetic shift, the problems of parental, social and school relations linked to her hearing disability. A performance, because the artistic shift is sufficiently mastered for Louis to be explicit, while being poetic and without pathos.

Raise awareness among students and teachers through poetry

This animated film was commissioned by the Center for education for deaf hearing impaired people (Cesda) in Herault. Anne Vandwaeter works there: “We wanted to talk about our work, support in schools, awareness among other students and teachers, but through poetry and sensitivity, hence the commission of an animated film. . “

The center has retained the Clissonnaise, Violaine Paquet. “For a year, we organized meetings with her, families and hearing impaired children to prepare the film,” specifies Anne Vandwaeter. The goal: that the story told poetically by Violaine evokes as well as possible the conditions of schooling of the hearing impaired. This film should make their problems understood. We will use it during awareness meetings that we organize in schools for teachers and students. “

14 months in all

The film Louis will also shoot in various establishments for the hearing impaired. In Clisson, in La Fabule, the workshop where she shoots her animations and gives animation lessons for children and adults, Violaine Pasquet therefore took more than a year to build Louis’ plot, to create the decor and the nine characters, to be shot, frame by frame, the different scenes. “14 months in all”.

The name of this film comes from the hearing impaired children she has met. “After defining the storyline, I asked them what they wanted to call the main character. The first name Louis was unanimous. However, none consciously made the connection between the first name Louis and hearing. “
